Editorial/Bridal Hairstyling Pro

This all-in-one intensive 13 week course is a combination of our Basic Editorial Hairstyling course and our Advanced Bridal Hairstyling course and is designed to streamline your path to Professional Hairstylist in no time.  We are passionate and confident that you will complete this course having gained all the knowledge, understanding and skills to start your career at an advanced level.

All trainers have completed their Training and Assessment Certificate. They are highly qualified with years of experience teaching at Colleges/Tafes, editorial spreads and have worked for prestigious companies and won major industry awards. All trainers STILL work within the makeup/hair industry and are well sought after.

All classes will have an intimate classroom experience of no more than 8 students per class, to ensure the greatest experience possible. Competitively priced hair kits will be available to purchase which will contain an excellent selection of products.

A Certificate of attainment is gained on the successful completion of course. All students will receive 10% off selected products throughout course.

The purpose of this Editorial/Bridal Hairstyling Pro course is aimed at Make up artists that would like basic hair knowledge for editorial shoots, and basic hair styling to add to their business. Within the first 5 modules during the 13 week course each step is explained in depth. The remaining weeks focuses on bridal hair styling and is designed for artists that would like to enter the bridal hair industry. Learn the art of clean textured up styles, structured vintage waves, romantic and boho styling and sleek timeless classics.

Models are required for each week however mannequins can be purchased through TBA if required.

Students must be 16 years of age or over at the starting date of the course.

Course Information

Basic Editorial Hairstyling

Weeks 1 to 5

Course Summary:

Week 1
1A- PREP- The what why and how for long lasting results.

1B- HYGIENE- Scalp and hair conditions, how to sanitize and clean tools properly.

1C- Tools of the trade – Tool knowledge and heat control. Equipment recommendations and how to.

1D BLOW WAVES – How to create a sleek and sexy blow wave and how to create a full bouncy blow out.

Week 2
This class is all about the heat tools. You will create volume with big curls, Glam red carpet waves and beach waved perfection

Week 3
This week is all about the humble pony tail. You will be shown 3 different techniques to create a sleek shiny, bridal volume and double pony tail.

3A- How to correctly secure a pony tail.

3B-Sleek and perfect straight pony

3C- Volume textured pony including extension application 

3D- Double extended pony

Week 4
Braids will never go out of fashion. Whether its Kim K braids or a more understated fishtail you will learn 3 different braid techniques and incorporate them into a basic yet stunning up style.

4A- Inside scalp braid

4B- outside scalp braid

4C- boho fishtail braid

4D- braided up style 

Week 5
This week is all about extensions. With most styles you see on social media incorporating extensions in some way shape or form we will show you how to correctly apply clip in extensions. How to not cause any damage to the hair and create a half up style using extensions for volume.

5A- Why use extensions? Which kind to use and how to colour match. 

5B- Clip in extension application

5C-How to correctly use Bobby pins (less is more)

5D- How too create a stunning half up style using clip in extensions.


Advanced Bridal Hair Styling

Weeks 6 to 13

Course Summary:

Week 6 – Model required

Before starting any up styles students need to know the correct way to prep hair and all the secret tips and tricks to ensure they are completely ready for hands on styling.
6A- Teasing, how to create the perfect tease.
6B- Padding, how to make your own and how to correctly secure it.
6C- Face framing and face analysis
6D- Extension application 
6E- How to deal with clients that have Thick, Fine and Curly hair 
6F- Bridal consultation and trials 
6G- How to use a crimper for volume and texture
6H- Veil placement 

Week 7 – Model required

The boho bride loves soft instructed hair that flows. These styles are perfect for beach and outdoor weddings.
7A- Individual client consultation 
7B- boho braided half up style 
7C- Boho/ fairy tail braid with extensions
7D- How to add the perfect accessory 

 Week 8 – Model required

Modern bride- Effortless texture
The modern bride is the most common bride at the moment. She loves the undone texture of knots, bridal buns and rolls. This bride likes the “messy” look but there is a huge line between textured and messy. We will go through how to create volume and texture in a clean none matted way. 
All parts of module 3 to be completed and questions answered and submitted at end of class.

Week 9 – Model required

The Romantic bride loves the idea of a modern-day fairy-tale. With soft cascading curls in a modern up style.

Week 10 – Model required

The classic bride loves neat structure. The sleek lines and glass finishes compliment this look perfectly.
10A- Individual client consultation
10B- Sleek hair prep and which products suit this style.
10C- Chignon with padding
10D- Chignon without padding
10E- Accessory placement 

Week 11 – Model required

The vintage bride is all about the structured wave. Learn how to create the perfect high fringe and full wave perfection.
All parts of module 6 to be completed and questions answered and submitted at end of class.
11A- Individual client consultation  
11B- Vintage wave, teasing, rod placement extension application and finishing.
11C- Accessory placement 

Week 12 – Model required

Braided Up styles
How to create perfect textured up styles using different braiding techniques. Perfect for bridesmaids and brides that want to be that little bit extra.
All parts of module 7 to be completed and questions answered and submitted at end of class.
12A- Braid placement

12E- Dream board

Week 13 – Model required

For the last week of the course you will create any of the looks you have learned over the last 7 weeks. The look will be assessed by the head trainer and social media photos can be taken to use in your port folio.

A deposit of $500 (non refundable) is required to secure your place in this course; the balance to be paid prior to commencement of the course, or payment options available.

Long hair styling combs, hair padding/nets, tail comb, round brush, clips, bobby pins, elastic bands, hair spray & smoothing cream.

Students will need to bring to class or can buy at a 10% discount from the Academy.

The Academy sells mannequin heads:
Brunette – $150
Blonder – $240
Mannequin head can be purchased at the academy prior to week 1 class.

Head Clamp for Mannequin head can be purchased for $20 or stand for $90

Please ensure if supplying your own mannequin it is 100% human hair. As we heat tools and products that are designed for human hair. We cannot accept responsibility if mannequins are damaged due to poor quality hair.

Professional Photographer Photo Shoot  
These photo shoots will be conducted at the academy throughout the year with a professional fashion photographer who produces high quality images. Past and present students will be informed via our academy private forum when these photo shoots will be scheduled. The photo shoot intent is that you create a ‘look’ that represents the style of makeup and/or hair style that you want to showcase in your portfolio of work using your own products.

Duration: up to 3 hours  Cost: $150.

Course runs one night per week for 3 hours (model required each week or you can purchase a mannequin head)

Prerequisites: Students must be 16 years of age or over at the starting date of the course. You will be taught all the practical aspects of hair styling.
