We offer short industry relevant courses run by industry professionals. All graduated students receive a certificate of completion. If you are in a country like Australia where there are no licensing requirements, our certificate is all you need to get started in the industry. You are also able to obtain insurance.

The Hair and Beauty industry in Australia was deregulated in 1986, therefore it is no longer a legal requirement to complete a course run by a registered training organisation (RTO) to work in the industry or run your own salon.

Our courses offer specific and explicit training in each study area that leaves our students more accomplished and our students are often offered positions over other students from other schools.

So, to be very clear – successfully completing our certificate courses will enable you to gain employment in retail, freelancing, beauty salons and spa’s. You will also be able to use your certificate to gain insurance for your business as well as membership into professional makeup brands ‘professional discount programs’.

You don’t need to be certified to be educated, we teach you to become skilled and experienced which in turn makes you qualified.

At the TBA we believe that to be the best, you have to learn from the best. All of our trainers are fully qualified to teach and are experienced and active in their own specialist field within the Film, Fashion, TV, Theatre, Hair and Beauty industries. We believe that the teaching experience and master skills that our trainers have gives our students a far superior advantage in the industry once they’ve finished learning with us.

All applicants must have completed Year 10 (or equivalent) and be 16 years or older in order to apply to study at the TBA.

No experience required – we got you! We offer fundamental courses to get you started. To be successful in this fast-paced industry, you need to learn the basics from the best and most talented. All of our courses are taught by industry experts who currently work in the industry ad are highly sort after.

We are located in an industrial business park area at 36 Aylesbury Drive, Altona, 3018, Victoria (Building 8).

Ample car parking (as well as disability parking) is available in a well-lit and safe area. The academy building also accommodates students with disabilities. As we like to have a duty of care whilst our students and visitors are on our premises, there is always a staff member on-site that can perform basic first aid if ever needed.

Yes. Students are responsible for obtaining models on the days designated. For example:

- Models are required from week 2 for Beginners/Intermediate Makeup (if you are unable to get a model for your practical, you can work on yourself)

- Models are required each week for Advanced Makeup (if you are unable to get a model for your practical, you can work on yourself)

- Models are required each week for Hair (if you are unable to get a model for your practical, you can purchase a mannequin head from the school)

- Models are required every week for Pro Nails (if you are unable to get a model, you can work on yourself or nail hands are available for purchase at the school).

- Models are required from week 2 for Classic and Volume Eyelash Extensions

- Models are required from weeks 5 to 12 for Barbering

In unusual circumstances when you can’t get a model you will have options to work on either a mannequin head (Hair), your own hands (Nails), your own face (Makeup). We do not encourage this though, you must ensure that you are able to get a reliable model every week where required so that we can properly assess your work.

It’s easy to enroll in any of our courses, do it all online via this website, simply add the course or courses you want to do to your Shopping Cart and purchase. You will then be contacted by the TBA shortly thereafter via email to confirm your enrolment and we provide further detailed information about the course. A non-refundable deposit is also required to secure your spot.

All course deposits are non-refundable. This includes course fees paid in full (in one lump sum). The deposit amount is non-refundable if you withdraw from the course before the first class. If you withdraw after the first class, all payments made are non-refundable as we are not able to place another student in your place after the course has started.

Yes! The deposit comes off the course total.

Yes! You can choose among the following payment options: Full payment up front using Credit Card or PayPal or spaced out payments via Humm or AfterPay. All deposits and course payments are non-refundable or transferable.

Our courses come highly recommended and are up to date with the latest industry standards, trends and techniques and all include a comprehensive Training Manual/Workbook written by your trainer.

The fees cover all products and materials used during the course, as well as specialist equipment and tools. Brushes are not included and you are required to bring your own set or purchase a set from the TBA for week one. Unlike other courses, we provide all necessary make-up and appliances used by professional make-up artists for the duration of the course. The TBA stocks many high end, luxury and professional brands for you to use during your training.

The TBA provides all products, brushes and pins for you to learn with during your course, however you are required to provide all professional electrical equipment listed on the hair course page.

For nail students, a kit to the value of $500.00 is included in your course for you to use throughout each lesson so you are familiar with these items and have everything you need once you graduate.

A full business kit to the value of $600 is included in your course for you to use during training. When you finish the course, use the kit in your business as it will provide you with a return on your training investment.

This course includes all styling products for you to use in class. Course includes a comprehensive Training Manual/Workbook. For this course there are Barbering products that you need to purchase before this course starts, these products are listed on the Barbering course page.

You will receive ongoing support via a private forum.

Our class sizes are kept small, intimate and friendly. This allows you to receive individual tuition and ensures we maintain the high standard of makeup training for which TBA is renowned. You’ll be in classes with max 8-10 students.

If you are sick or absent for a class, you will have access to a LIVE stream session VIA our FB PRIVATE FORUM. This class will be available on the forum for 48hrs.

If you are on a payment plan, payment must still be made as per contract . Payment plans are put in place to assist you financially and our TBA policy is signed by all students at the time of enrolment. Your certificate will not be issued till all missed classes are made up. You can book a one on one lesson at an extra cost. If you miss more than 3 classes, you will have to pay $100 for each class you need to re-sit and you may be required to produce a medical certificate.

A certificate will be issued to students who successfully complete a course. Online Students will receive a PDF certificate via email, onsite will receive a framed certificate onsite. ($10 fee if online student requests a framed hard copy)

Since we are a private training organization, we do not directly offer any VET-fee help. We do however offer payment plan options via Humm or AfterPay.

Yes, TBA students and graduates are eligible to receive 10% discounts from a variety of cosmetic brands that are stocked at the Academy. Eyelash Extension students receive 20% discount from products purchased at the TBA.

Good quality brushes make all the difference in makeup application. Everyone from the most skilled makeup artist to the woman who wears only the basics can benefit from using the right tools. We sell the Ronia brushes - RRP $447 Student Price $290. These brushes have been handpicked for their durability and ability to perform for beginners and will serve you well as you grow as an artist.

All students must be able to speak and understand English to benefit completely from the education provided.

We will be talking to you throughout the course, but your priority will be learning as much as you can from our experienced trainers. We are often approached by salons for work opportunities. These are listed on our private forum for students to apply. Over 90% of our students are working in the industry.

Like major colleges and universities, we make no guarantees that you will be employed, though we do give you every opportunity to learn and become skilled to make yourself employable or to start your own business.

In general, no. Our courses are priced according to the outstanding education you will receive, along with all the products that come with it including what we make available for you to use in class. Your teachers experience, knowledge and skill is also accounted for along with your training manual and ongoing support even after you’ve completed your training with us. If you prefer a discount, consider checking out our PRO courses which are a combination of both the beginners and advanced courses all-in-one. These courses are discounted so you save $300 on the total cost by doing them together as opposed to individually. Doing the courses together also helps to fast track your learning.
