The men’s grooming industry is thriving creating a high demand for skilled barbers.

The Tamarua Beauty Academy will give you the knowledge and expertise to get started in this creative and dynamic field.

This Barbering course focuses on the fundamental traditions of ‘old school’ barbering and specialist urban barbering techniques including clipper/scissor over-comb, taper, graduated, layered cutting styles and more. Upon completion of this course you will have the ability to confidently perform face and neck shaving, clipper carving/track works, trimming and styling of men’s hair, beards and moustaches.

You’ll learn from an industry expert as you hone your skills working on real models in our modern purpose-built training facility.

To work within the Barbering industry there are professional tools that are required. A professional basic Barber Kit is required to complete this course. It is not supplied as part of this course – we will recommend suppliers that stock relevant equipment that you will need so that you can build your kit.

If you are already qualified with a Cert III in hairdressing, you will be able to by-pass weeks 1 to 4 of this course and start at week 5 as we cover cutting and sectioning techniques that you’ve already mastered.  The course cost for hairdressers (starting at week 5 through to 12) is $1800 and Cert III must be provided as evidence.

If you are an experienced Barber and want to improve your scissor work, you will only need to attend Weeks 1 through to 7 as the following weeks after that teach you barbering skills that you’ve already mastered.  The course cost for Barbers is $1700 and portfolio via social media or website must be provided as evidence

This is a 12 week course.

No models required in weeks 1 to 4 (a mannequin head will be supplied for you to work on)
